P2E game, Axie Infinity removes rewards from the classic game. This will subtly force players to switch to the new mode. According to the team, the move was part of its plan to make the Smooth Love Potion token’s economy more stable.
Innovations introduced into AXS gaming mode.
Play-to-earn (P2E) blockchain game Axie Infinity (AXS) has taken away all token rewards from its classic game mode to compel fans to play its new game mode, Axie Infinity Origin.
The Axie Infinity team announced that from Friday, players will no longer earn Smooth Love Potions (SLP) made in its classic mode. The team says that they will move the SLP rewards to their new game mode. But minting won’t be possible for 30 days while the team goes through a phase of monitoring to look for bugs, abuses, and exploits.
Aside from this, the team made a point of saying that switching from the classic game mode to the new one will help “balance the SLP economy.” In addition to taking away the old rewards, the team will also make it possible to use SLP to craft in-game boosts like runes and charms in the new mode.
Axie Infinity’s journey so far
In an earlier attempt to make the SLP token economy fairer, the Axie Infinity team took away the SLP rewards for the adventure minigame and daily quests in classic mode back in February. Although the team is making changes to the economy, the token is still down 98.7% from its all-time high of $0.39 in July 2021.
In 2021, NFT games have made the P2E model popular and are responsible for almost two-thirds of all NFT transactions in blockchain games. The project had $3.5 billion worth of NFT exchanges in the last year, according to the website, which provides information about tokens.
Although the Axie Infinity project’s crypto tokens haven’t done well during the crypto winter, the number of NFT transactions for the project went up by 205% in July. Its co-founder, Jeff Zirlin, said that the project is “healing” because of how well the NFT land staking feature of the game has been received.
