Chevrolet, also known as Chevy, an American automobile company, just took its first step into web 3.0 as it launched its first NFT project Corvette Z06, a bright green colored sports car.
The automobile company has made plans to auction off the Corvette NFT with the theme “own the car”.
This means that the winner of the auction will also get a replica of the physical version of the car when it is released in 2023.
More About the “Corvette Z06” NFT
Artist Nick Sullo a.k.a Xsullo designed the Corvette Z06 artwork. The NFT features a minuted green Corvette Z06 on a street surrounded by blue and pink walls.
The auctioning of the Corvette Z06 NFT will take place from the 20th-24th of June 2022 on SuperRare. The auction can be viewed at The Crypt gallery during NFT NYC.
The winner of the bid will not just get the digital artwork but also the original version of the car. Also, the car will be one of its kind as it will be the only Corvette Z06 that will have a mint green color.
The car will also have some features of Corvette Z07, carbon fiber wheels, the option code RFN and a commemorative plaque.
The purchase of the Corvette Z06 NFT will only be with Ethereum and the physical version of the car will have a code that links it to the NFT.
The company also stated that all the proceeds from the auction will go to DonorsChoose which is an organization that seeks to help teachers and contribute to the development of the educational system.
According to Steve Mojoros, the Vice President of Chevrolet Marketing, “Corvette is the halo at Chevrolet. It is the pinnacle of performance and staying cutting edge means getting into new territories as a bit of a pioneer.
He also said that the company sees “own the color” as a stepping stone for Chevrolet, into future digital initiatives for their customers.
The designer of the artwork, Xsullo, on his part said “The Corvette Z06 is an ambitious car that I totally vibe with,” he said. “I’m drawn to how technology can make us feel, and I can tell the designers of Corvette Z06 draw from similar inspiration.”
Chevrolet has taken a huge step into web 3.0 as well as other automobile brands such as Audi, Lamborghini, Hyundai motors, and many others.
The involvement of these companies in web 3.0 will serve as the stepping stone to more digital investments.
