FC Barcelona is launching its very first NFT in order to honor one of the greatest goals ever scored by one of its players Johan Cruyff. The inaugural digital product from the Catalan club honors club hero Johan Cruyff’s legendary flying kick goal against Atlético Madrid in 1973. It is titled “In a Way, Immortal.“
The Johan Cruyff NFT Make-up
The Johan Cruyff NFT is audiovisual since it consists of a dynamic, molten gold animation depicting Cruyff’s amazing jump and volley, as well as a 40-second video clip with music from a 30-piece orchestra and actual crowd noise from Camp Nou.
Additionally, four additional NFTs supplement the collection, each of which is an image from the animated version. Barca created Five NFTs in partnership with BCN Visuals, a local digital super studio, and the World of Johan Cruyff organization. They required over 10,000 hours to produce in total.
NFT Auctioning
Sotheby’s will sell the item via a hybrid auction. On July 21, online bidding for the asset commenced, with a special live auction scheduled for July 29 at Sotheby’s New York (with online bidding to still continue throughout the live auction). Buyers can place bids with BTC, ETH, USDC, DOT, or fiat currency.
The winner of the NFT will also receive a variety of FC Barcelona-related perks and experiences, including becoming a Barca Digital Ambassador, meet and greets, visits to La Masia (the club’s training facility), hospitality rights for a minimum of five years, the opportunity to play at the Spotify Camp Nou, and more.
Immortal is the first of ten NFT editions that the club will release in the coming months, with each of the next nine featuring a famous moment from the club’s illustrious past.
