Man City fans will also have a chance to win season tickets in the OKX Hospitality Box by scanning QR codes on street art commissioned by the crypto exchange.
OKX released a statement that it has made a deal with English Premier League (EPL) champions Manchester City to become the team’s training kit sponsor for the 2022–23 season.
Crypto and Sports Partnership’s incredible growth
Though the crypto market is going bearish, its partnerships with the sports industry continue to grow stronger.
Everton, another EPL team, just signed a match kit sponsorship with crypto gambling company Stake. At the same time, PSG has also started selling NFT tickets for the preseason.
The OKX deal will bring a lot of attention to the company’s branding since Manchester City won the EPL last season and looks ready to try again this season after signing Erling Haaland, a star striker from Norway.
OKX’s logo will be on men’s and women’s training gear as part of the deal until the middle of 2023. Current previews show OKX’s name on the front of training shirts in the lower chest area.
OKX also reported that it had hired the well-known street artist “Akse P19” and the Global Street Art Agency to make four artworks with QR codes all over Manchester. Fans can scan these to try to win a season pass to the OKX Hospitality Box. Some street art had players like Haaland, Jack Grealish, Joo Cancelo, and John Stones.
Since OKX became Manchester City’s Official Cryptocurrency Exchange Partner in March, the two companies have been working together. They plan to release more web3- based ways to get fans involved in their partnership.
Sony Partnered with Man City for a Virtual Etihad Stadium Earlier this Year before the OKX deal
Recall that in February, the famous soccer team partnered with Sony Electronics to build its renowned home stadium in the metaverse so that fans can watch live games from anywhere in the world.
The team signed a three-year deal with Sony. According to the agreement, experts can use image analysis and skeletal-tracking technology from Sony subsidiary Hawk-Eye in virtual reality.
Manchester City hopes that fans will enjoy everything a virtual stadium offers. Even though COVID restrictions still make it hard for some people to travel, being able to watch games in an immersive metaverse setting could be a relief for fans who can’t wait to get back into a game setting.
By building the virtual Etihad Stadium, the team breaks geographical barriers for fans who want to watch a live or recorded game.
